Self Employment Trends
A new report by the accounting software firm Fresh Books indicates that self-employment is estimated to increase dramatically in the next two years. Over 2700 full-time employees, independent contractors, and business owners were surveyed online. The survey is of particular value because it does not include the new “gig economy”, individuals who work with firms like Uber. The study focuses on individuals who earn income based on independent client-based work.
There are multiple reasons individuals are choosing to pursue self-employment. The freedom that comes with self-employment is unparalleled. Freedom was a primary contributor to my decision to pursue self-employment. The reasons the respondents gave closely mirrored my thought process.
